good news

Just received a call from my mom and she happily informed me that my brother finally completed his house construction. It took him over six months to complete the house with delays caused not by the contractor, but from the local government permits such as electrical and fire permit, sanitation and occupancy permit. Thus, after thousands of pesos spent for all the permits, finally my brother was able to move-in. Really happy for my brother. He has now a house that he can definitely call his own! Unfortunately, I was not able to see his place but I was told that the house was built in good taste. Like our home, they’ve decided to do a minimalist-modern look too. From the choice of windows, color schemes, tiles, bathroom fixtures and kitchen faucets it was all created with modern but simple look. Just can’t wait to see his house. Hopefully, will have the house blessing schedule by next month.

pet project

We don't have pets ... and we never attempted to buy any pet. You see, hubby and I share the passion of ... NOT having any pets. We are lazy, and we don't like the smell of pets inside our home. We are also afraid of getting any disease brought by any household pets. Thus, despite loving those cuti-cutie puppies...we opted not to have one!

But for Sam's school project, we are forced to buy pair of hamster to comply with the requirements. Believe me, the bratinella was giddy happy when she saw her pets! Totally delighted and named her pets, po and ming ming. The day hubby went home with her hamster ... she couldn't sleep! Very much excited. As a matter of fact, overly excited feeding and giving water to her new pet "toys".

Now we wonder ... can she have her own pets? Hmmm.. too early to tell.

fourth birthday plans : strawberry shortcake theme

It’s the time of the month again … July, as the start of my party preparation for the bratinella. Since we are not allowed to have a party at Sam’s school, we opted to celebrate her 4th birthday with a simple celebration. No definite plans yet, but I am thinking of the following options:

Party theme: STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE MEETS SAMANTHA
Party date: November 8, Saturday. 4pm

1. rent a small function room or clubhouse (Valle Verde) to hold the party. Preferably near Pasig or Ortigas area so her classmates can attend.

2. hold the party at Mc Donald’s El Pueblo with party theme : Strawberry Shortcake in Mc Donalds land or something like that… hehehe! Ipilit talaga Strawberry Shortcake.

3. hold the party again at our residence to save on cost! another street party, perhaps. lol.

4. rent BOUNCE party venue for non-stop inflatables jumping party!

5. rent a resto for a private party : Hard Rock, Fridays or Dad's --- mas malaki ata budget dito dapat! hahaha!

I am still tweaking some numbers for my party planning. For starters, need to set the party budget. I told hubby its not going to be a grand affair and promised to minimize the cost. Hahaha! Let's see if I can keep my promise this time.

getting life insurance

Thinking of getting term life insurance? I saw an affordable, low cost term life insurance on the web that you might want to consider. At wholesaleinsurance.net getting quotes are as easy as 1-2-3, simply input important facts about you, and presto .... quotes readily available! As a matter f fact, comparison quotes from different insurance provider available for your picking. Ain't that a powerful tool in your decision making? You can now view the best insurance provider depending on your capacity to pay and your preferred term life, health plan and coverage amount. I was surprised for a standard plus health plan, I got a very affordable quote as low as $126 to $284 annual fee (or $11 - $25/monthly) for a term life quote of 10 years. Really great offer, huh! Do check it out and see the best plan coverage for you and your family.

car improvements

We missed hubby yesterday at the 7th birthday party yesterday of Gianna, daughter of one of my colleagues at South Avenue, Quezon City. We agreed to meet up at the party place as soon as he finishes with some car improvements and accessories upgrades at Banawe. His uncle asked him to accompany him since he is very much familiar with all the accessories shop here.
Unfortunately, hubby under-estimated the time they need to spend here waiting for all the accessories to be installed. He missed the party. I was told they dressed up the brand new Toyota Innova car with accessories such as rain gutters, step up boards, side impact beams and fog lights. Aside from the car accessories, they even checked available replacement car parts for his uncle's old Toyota Revo car such as brake pads, timing belts and steering rack . Luckily Banawe have all these car parts readily available. For a cheap price, car parts can be bought here either brand new or replacement parts, a haven for car enthusiasts like hubby.

dreaming of France travel

France another dream travel destination for me. I promised myself to travel to France before I reach the age of 40… as a retirement gift for myself and that would be, years and years from now. But with the high cost of airline fares and accommodations at grand Hotel Paris, I need to save up big time for my France travel. I want to see and visit the museums such as the much talked-about Louvres from Da Vinci Code. Go up the Eiffel Tower, visit Rennes and dine and stroll at Champs-Élysées’ gardens. I would also love to visit the Gothic cathedrals of Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Chartres and enjoy the splendid gothic architecture. My itinerary includes walking the vineyard and taste the sweet wines of Champagne province. And of course, my travel will not be complete without shopping and stepping inside my favorite posh luggage store, Louis Vuitton and probably get myself another LV Monogram bag.

But for the meantime, until I haven’t got the funds for my dream destination travel, I can simply browse and enjoy on the web France photos . I can probably start jotting down my planned itinerary so I can maximize my tour while minimizing my travel cost. Oh France…my dream destination travel. I am sure I can get here someday.

in need of prescription glasses

Need eyeglasses? Me, I think I need one soon. I've been experiencing headaches and dizziness lately from working long hours infront of my computer and I believe I need prescription glasses to relieve my tired eyes. I saw an affordable site on the web, Zenni Optical $ 8 Rx Eyeglasses that offers incredible stylish frames from Zenni. I so love their stylish designs and I plan to order online for myself soon. It has a high quality stylish frame, thin and light index frames, with anti scrtach coating and full UV protection. They also provide good quality durable eyeglass case with micro fiberlens cleansing cloth for every glasses ordered online. Really cool offer, huh! As I was sharing my webfinds to my friend in LA, she told me she's familiar with the brand and even told me Zenni Optical was on FOX news! Great marketing strategy to capture viewers interest. Now I am convinced, best deal one can get from Zenni Opticals. With the stylish-purple frame below, think this will be just perfect for my personality.

gold bars

Ever considered investing to precious metals, particularly gold bars? It did cross my mind few months ago especially with the increasing value of it as investment. It is a tangible asset that will last a lifetime. It protects the investor against any inflation, deflation or any political instabilities. A remarkable and unique investment that boasts great pride and beauty.

The web offers various gold bars sites for interested buyers like me. With so many gold investing companies available on the web, I found one notable supplier, Monex Precious Metals worth investing. The company provides gold bullion in different forms that varies in weight and purity content. Each bar comes with certification from Monex with logo of the world’s leading refinement such as Heraeus and the leading minting institutions, Austrian mint. A guarantee and helpful aid for novice buyers like me. Do check it out. Monex authorized representatives available to answer and guide you to gold investing. Who knows... perhaps gold bars will be part of your investment portfolio next to T-Bills and stocks!

beauty schools

While happily being a stay-at-home mom for the last two weeks, I’ve been assessing my career in the telecommunications industry and decided to do start putting up my own business as a fall-back or preparation for my retirement. Of course, I would like my business to be related to something I love the most, and that is beauty or travel. I initially thought of putting up my own travel agency but then, I saw very good market for ladies in our neighbourhood, thus I opted to for beauty-related business like beauty parlor or health spa. I must admit I am still a novice when it comes to beauty or cosmetic field and I need to know more about the industry. Hence, with reputable beauty schools like Regency Beauty Institute, I can get good quality cosmetic education driven by high standards and excellence in the beauty industry. As a matter of fact, the institute boasts a training program recognized by the US Department Education which offers consistent curriculum courses across all nations. Thus, standardizing the program and producing good quality beauty students.
I checked available training programs offered by the school, and I am very much interested on salon business and retailing program. I am also interested in enrolling for hairstyle program which I find it very much exciting especially with the workshops, rehearsals and performance as part of the curriculum. Wouldn’t that be a very unique approach to cosmetology education? Hmmm… now my next dilemma whether to take the program in Minnesota or Wisconsin. Let’s see.

tour at new york

New York was my dream destination when I was young. As a matter of fact, my urge to see the place became almost an obsession thanks to my favorite show, Sex and the City. Magnifying my strong desire to be part of NY crowd! I've always dreamed of walking the Manhattan Avenue armed with a eye-candy Chanel bag, Armani dress and in my Manolo Blahnik stilleto shoes. Every girl's ultimate dream to be like Carrie Bradshaw!
Well that dream turned into reality thanks to the travel opportunity I got two years ago from our company, I was sent to New York for an official business trip. As soon as I arrived in New York, I was mesmerized by the beauty, the busy, fast-paced life of the people around. With only few days to stay, I immediately took advantage of doing some sight seeings and shopping in NY. I booked for an all around town tour via NYC Tours hop on and hop off, and toured the area riding the famous double-decker buses. Truly an enjoyable day trip covering the famous NY attraction places such as Times Square, Madison Square, Macys, SoHo, Empire State Building, Wall Street and Rockefeller Center and the ruins of World Trade Center. For every hop, I was able to take souvenir pictures and buy memorabilia (shirts and caps) at these places. It was really a wonderful city experience!
Sadly due to limited time, I was not able to take the night tour of NY. I learned from my New Yorker friend that the NYC Tours also offers spectacular night view of Brooklyn Fulton Ferry Landing for photo opps of Manhattan Skyline. A breathtaking sight to behold as they say.
But I vowed that on my next visit, will definitely take this tour option together with circle line cruise to see the majestic Statue of Liberty at Ellis Island. Since I learned that I can book tour tickets online thru http://www.citysightsny.com/ , buying tickets and arranging my tour itinerary is easy and fast with just one click away. Ain't that truly a convenient travel? So ...'til my next visit to the Big Apple, I know better.

back to work again ...

My two-weeks vacation leave hiatus officially ends today, Sunday. With a heavy heart, I am back to reality and be a working mom by tomorrow again. Obviously, I've enjoyed my two weeks vacation as a SAHM and it made me wish I can be one...forever! Unfortunately, with all our financial obligations and with my type of personality, I don't think I am really cut to be a SAHM. lol. Yes, despite enjoying my rest ... I am still in touch with my colleagues daily for any work-related concerns. Moreover, with all the shopping sprees I've done, really need to be back to work to pay off my cards. Otherwise, yari ako with hubby for spending our common funds! Hehehe!

Anyway, I am proud what I have accomplished for the past two weeks :

1. Had my thyro-glossal duct cyst removed. Yey...after months of diagnosis already prioritized this!
2. Was able to do major clean up of the house --- all bedrooms including cabinets and storage areas.
3. Re-arrange bedroom furnitures and fixtures --- Sam, Ico and Master's bedroom
4. Finally fixed our living room and family room cables and wires. Re-arrange furnitures.
5. Already bought LCD screen and home theater for the living room.
6. Added up few door locks at home for security.
7. Completed Service Repair of Sam's DVD player and Ico' s treadmill.
8. Was able to train new yaya for Sam.
9. Enjoyed my mornings with Sam preparing her baon, clothes, dressing her up etc...
10. Was able to set up my twitter account, update my blog, do more opps, shop online!
11. Had my license -renewal. (yes, late renewal again)

12. Finally got my annotated birth certificate from NSO. I am officially ARMIDA JACQUELINE (will post separate kwento about this.)
13. Had precious five-days stay with Sam while she's sick. Stayed and cuddled with her most of the time.
14. Got Ico his new book : Narnia chronicles.
15. Got Sam's tuition fee and uniforms refund at Poveda.

16. Completed all my bank duties : changing ATMs, check book requisition etc.

17. Had my ME time last Friday : spa, hot oil, foot massage, foot spa, manicure and pedicure, the works!

18. Had bonding time with Kuya Ico at Shang : watched Dark Knight and had dinner at Green Tomato. Yummy pesto pasta and four-cheese and all meat pizza! Must try resto!

19. Already drafted Sam's 4th birthday party plans.

Hmmm.. think i really did well for the past two weeks while on vacation leave. Was able to complete mostly house stuffs (little and menial things) that I often overlooked but I am happy that I was able to complete it now. Though I still have some unfinished projects like our photo albums and picture frames, but I guss that can wait 'til my next holiday off. As well as my plan to start with my diet and weight loss pills intake, that too can wait.

For the meantime, will relax and just enjoy the rest of my day off ... then by tomorrow, happy and fully re-charged back to the slave world again!lol.

picture storage problem.

The husband is complaining the other day that I am doing picture overload with our CANON Digital IXUS digital cam’s memory card. Apparently, he saw that we’ve reached the maximum capacity despite having a 1GB built-in SD memory card. He’s suggesting that I get higher memory upgrade such a 4GB compact flash to store our pictures. He was surprised to see that some of the pictures stored were taken as early as February 2008. Can you believe that! More than five months-old pictures that includes special events like birthdays, anniversary, family travels local and international, and other momentous event in our lives. Tried to reason that I am keeping the pictures at my digicam for fear of capacity overload with my brand new laptop. Thus, I am asking hubby to buy me at least 20GB external hard drive before I delete pictures from my cam. Very wise wifey, don’t you think so?!

construction woes.

My contractor friend had a very bad experience last year with one of their clients who secured their services for building construction. Apparently, there were some misunderstandings happened half-way of the construction from the original architectural plan, building design, manpower allotment, third-party outsourced provider and most of all, funding. Some parts of contracts were not honored by the owner, which prompted my friend to file a case against his client. Sadly with almost one year legal battle, the building still not completed and my friend received less the agreed contract payment for the services rendered.

For the legal battle, I referred my friend to PROLIEN site I found on the net. A site that specializes legal services for construction business. At PROLIEN, the company assures filing of mechanics lein on behalf of the contractor for all the services rendered including labor and materials. The company also ensures that all legal aspects and rights covered depending on the specific laws of the State wherein the project is being implemented. Since the mechanic’s lien kinda confusing and elaborate from one state to another, it is very important to consult PROLIEN attorney hotline prior foreclosing of lien to ensure cost effective and efficient solution for your company. Truly another great web finds for contractors in dire need of legal assistance.

In need of financial assistance.

Inheritance is more often synonymous with somebody dying. And for the same reasoning, death means inheritance to specific individuals. Thus, if you are in line to receive an inheritance, then you need to wait for a person to die in order for you to get it. Sounds morbid? Yeah, in a way, but that is the fact.

But in some circumstances, the heir would be in need of financial assistance prior to any deaths Loan against inheritance… and that is where the value of Inheritance Funding Company would come in. The company provides cash advances to the heirs of each customer.

The value of the investment would be on the onset of the actual inheritance since the heirs would be benefiting from the company. Investments and proper management could be in place even before it is needed. And best part of this is that, the plan holder can even get a chance to “savor” the fruit of the investment while still alive. The plan holder, together with the heirs, can readily make something worthwhile prior to the actual inheritance. Now, how’s that for a real bargain?

sam the bday girl and sam, the sick girl.

We attended yesterday 4th Birthday Party of Samantha Dizon at Loyola Grand Villas. It was an awesome party with Hannah Montana party theme. Kudos to Mommy Rubai for another successful party of Sam! The balloon set-up was beautiful with a lot of kiddie carts provided by Yan-ple party shop. My sam enjoyed hopping from one kiddie cart to another. Enjoying the pizza and hotdog carts the most!

Sadly, we left the party quite early since Sam's running with a slight fever. After eating, I noticed she's in no mood to participate with the games and began to change her mood, from festive to grouchy mood . Quite unlikely because just few hours before, she was playing and joined all the games with so much enthusiasm. She even won a lot of looties for playing the game. But, looking how sick my sam was...I've decided to go home immediately and said our thanks and goodbye to our party host.

winning the sticker contest

amanda, sam --the bday girl, and my sam!

Anyway as soon as we arrived home, Sam still no mood to play. Still with fever, she just played with the loots we got from Sam party. Despite not finishing the party, Mommy Rubai was very generous and gave us tokens and loots which made my daughter happy.

sam here cheking out her loots! (lo-batt and really sick na!)

As of writing, the little girl's fever ranges from 38-39C. It's been at this high for the past two days. Been giving her Tempra medication and a lot of soup but somehow she also lost her appetite. Tried bribing her Mc Do and Jollibee chicken, but it won't do the trick!

Oh I just hope she'll feel better tommorow. She already missed the enitre classes of June and she's been doing a lot of catching up eversince. Quite sad if she'll be absent again this week...she'll definitely miss a lot of school activities. Oh well, can't do anything but wait and see... If her fever persists until tomorrow evening, might bring her to the hospital. Oh..this is bad! Really hope she'll feel better soon.

getting insurance ... priceless

Peace of mind... priceless. cheap term life insurance only $1* for a $50,000 adult coverage! Great offer on the web, right?

Ever thought by just allocating $1 will give you and your family the security and peace of mind you'll ever need? With the high cost of living these days, the basic needs such as food, shelter and clothing are prioritized leaving the family with less or no room for insurance budget. People often prioritize buying car and have it insured than ensuring the life of the financial provider. Risky, don't you think so? Hence, it would be better if you secure your family's future by getting a term life insurance to avoid any potential problems or consequences such as worrying unpaid debts, medical bills and burial expense. Being prepared would be a better legacy to leave your loved ones. Don't you agree?
